Why Are There So Many Religions?
Lauren Asks:
If there is only one God, then why do you think there are so many religions?
Lucid’s Thoughts:
That is a pretty good question :) It is my belief that there is one being that is most powerful, most intelligent, most abundant; I call this ultimate being God.
We have a great need to identify with God/Higher Power, and through the identifying, there is a need for reasoning and understanding.
Due to the fact that we all identify people, places and things through several methods of interpretation, there is no real secret behind the demand for different religions.
Each one of us lives our life according to our upbringing within our culture, belief systems, and society. Each religion offers similar underlining concepts, yet they are adaptable enough to be able to meet the needs of most individuals.
This being said, through out the centuries, and all the people who walked the earth, was born many different belief systems/religions.
To each his own, and to own is each.

Once again, pretty good explanation. It is true, we are all so different. it would be impossible to have only one form of religion, and have people really satisfied.

I like that I can worship anywhere I choose and I like that I have a choice!

When it comes to god, I think he is in all of us. I think religions are good for most but not everyone. I know we seek the truth, and as long as we all live ourlives for a greater cause we will be fine no matter what our differences are.

You know I have had a hard time finding the right religion that fits me. I think it is a disadvantage having so many out there. It just all seems to much. How do I know what is the right one for me? Do you have any advice?

I believe in a spritual God, and have my comfort in that. The people of the church where I worship are the ones that let me down. We had an incident with one of my friends who go to the same church as me. The people of the church never called her back, but I know that God will be there for them without the church because God is everywhere for everyone. My God loves us all no matter what.

God does love us all. And I too believe in a loving spiritual God. I do not limit myself to one single religion. I like that I can hear their theories & beliefs while still keeping my own.

Wow! I’m so happy to run into you! From the little I have read here you and I seem to be on very similar paths and also seem to think the same way! This is my exact philosophy on religions too and I’ve recently had a very spiritual experience to help confirm this belief. You are the very first person who I’ve ever run into who believes exactly the same as I do regarding this. Which is surprising to me considering how obvious it seems to me. Anyway, I’m quite please to have run into you and I shall book mark your site so that I can come back and read more!

Thank you Desiree and Welcome!
P.S. Sometimes when things are too obvious it is hard to see, this is why I am glad we all get to share our thoughts and opinions here

Beth… I think the ony one who can answer your questions would be you. No one can tell you what religion is best for you.
I think it is a trial and error processes. It may take a long time before you find something that is right for you…. Good Luck!

I don’t believe in any one religion either. And I don’t believe you *have* to go to church to worship God. I have family members that try and make me feel bad that I don’t go, but I am still not going. We are all different and can love/appreciate God as we feel comfortable. He is everywhere.

Damara,
I couldn’t have said it any better myself! I agree with you 100%. Religion is great. It is a community where people can learn about God, find some connectivity etc. But people should not push their beliefs where it is not wanted.
Everyone has their own needs.
