I would like to share an experience I had over a decade ago. My mother and sister lived in the same apartment complex as me. One day my mother had stopped by to see me and the kids. I was in the middle of cleaning, so I asked her to have a seat; I was almost done.

I went into the kitchen to do the dishes. As I was washing, I started to daze off. I began to have a vision. I saw a huge explosion near the entrance of the complex and heard a whole bunch of sirens coming from the fire trucks that were coming around the corner.

I was running towards my mom’s apartment, so I felt a sense of panic.

I came out of the vision rather quickly. I dropped what I was doing and went over to my mother. I asked her where my sister was. She questioned why, and I explained to her my vision. She said my sister was at home. I suddenly had an intense fear come over me. I needed to know what she was doing.

Just as I got up to get the phone it began to ring. I hurried to answer it; it was my sister. She had frustration in her voice when she said hello. Puzzled by this, I didn’t let her say anything else. The first thing I did was asked her what she was doing. She told me how she was trying to bake bread and couldn’t get the oven pilot to go on. She had been trying to ignite it for over fifteen minutes and apparently her lighter wouldn’t work either.

I screamed at her not to use her lighter, or matches! I told her to open all the windows and get out of the apartment immediately! She kept asking me why. I told her that she had the gas on with no flame for too long and the apartment was dangerous to be in.

My mother’s neighbor had called moments later to tell us how they smelt the gas so strongly upstairs and wanted to know if everything was ok.

I believe that she would have blown up in a ball of fire had her lighter worked. Someone had definitely been watching over her that day. The pilot had gone out in the oven and my sister tried to light it for a long time with the dial turned all the way up on high.

I believe we have someone greater then ourselves watching over us at all times. Sometimes things don’t always go the way we want them to, but most of the time it is for a good reason. Put faith into your higher power, it knows what’s best!
