Magicians, Are They Real?
In the comment section of a recent post Alexys brought up Criss Angel. For those of you that don’t know who he is, he is a modern day mega magician.
You know what is funny. I think these people like Criss Angel scare me a little bit. Yes, some things are lol “cheesy” (as Alexys called it) but some of their stuff is too much for me. Even David Blaine can freak me out.
It’s all good to have special powers and abilities, but sometimes they go way out of the normal human range, which leads me to wonder what is powering it.
I often ponder whether it is all an act and T.V. , or is it real and they are of another league. Do they hide behind the cameras to keep the rest of us guessing and confused while they exercise these super powers???
What is your take on this? How do you feel about the modern day mega magicians? I know they use illusions, and trickery to make us think we are seeing something that isn’t real, but is it, that is my question.

I think each of us perceives what we’re ready to perceive. If fear is in control, then reality is what you will have it be according your intent, which is delusional.
I sense than some human beings have learned to exert a range of powers and abilities outside the range of the majority. Many people naturally fear what they don’t understand. That’s why stigmas arise. For these kinds of people, its just easier to give into the ego rather than prove themselves wrong.
If however, you learn to seek the truth, you will leave judgment and scepticism behind you. You will allow yourself to realize your past thoughts and assumptions hold less meaning than the future will hold if you’re open to it.

Hi Liara! Well put!
I guess there is a little fear in all of us at one point or another in our life. And yes, the fear is usually from not understanding something.
Speaking for me personally, I do not necessarily fear this subject because I am opened minded to most things. However, I still think it is crazy how solid materials on a large scale can be moved or changed. It is amazing, but at the same time I just don’t think it is “normal” even for the strongest psychics to possess such abilities. Lol, can we say telekinetics to the 10th power!
I know we can temporarily experience super human strength for instance, when adrenaline is released during an intense situation. But to move a building of several floors, or to change liquid into pennies is out there.
Have a great afternnon!

Hi Lucid,
I think they want us to believe it’s real, but it’s just an illusion. I don’t think Criss Angel or David Blaine are doing anything extraoridinary, frankly I don’t know how they even got on TV. Houdini was extraordinary, Penn and Teller are somewhat amusing, Siegfried and Roy were exciting to watch, but Angel and Blaine are just boring.
It comes down to us believing what we want to believe - - and seeing is not always believing.
I also echo Liara’s insigntful sentiments.
Have a happy weekend my friend.

((( Lucid ))) I was just telling someone that my life is like one big Magical Mystery Tour… LOL
David Blaine and Chris Angel are amazing - I love to watch them. Haven’t a clue whether or not they are ‘really’ magical or just illusionists, but I don’t care.
I’m back in blogland again
Namaste!!

Happy Weekend to you Alexys!
For now I will just continue to stay neutral on the subject. I figure as long as it doesn’t effect me personally in my life, it doesn’t matter.
Take care and be well!

Hi Grace!!!!! {{{{Yeah!!}}}}
Glad to see your back. I will try and stop by your new site! I am at work at the moment so I can’t, but I will over the weekend.
I watched a small magic show in my early twenties. It was so predictable….. lol it was more like a comedy show. It is entertaining though!
…. Life can be magical at times, on all levels.
Have a wonderful weekend thanks for coming back!

I have a friend who is a part-time magician for birthday parties. He does traditional tricks with cards, the rabbit out of the hat, and a number of other tricks which may be familiar to people who watch magic shows. These kinds of performances challenge your perception at a different level than the illusions in this example by Chris Angel:

In generl, the more a magician plays with your senses, the more distracted you may be from what an illusionist is really doing. If you’re skeptical about tricks, then you’ll assume guarded secrets and refuse to believe anyway. if you want to believe in something, then you will.

Hi Liara!
That is true, they do play on distraction (all senses included), and power of suggestions is strong!
Thanks again!
