From the Heart
You can do an act of kindness and just go through the motions, or you can initiate an act, from the kindness from your heart; there is a difference.
Sure you could join a charity group because it looks good for your Companys reputation. One day, you may find yourself donating some money to the Red Cross, because your neighbors said they did. You may even help with a sick family member, so that your God fearing conscious stays quiet.
When you do or give something because you want to, it is very different then doing so because you feel you have to. The person or organization may not know the difference, but you will! All of these things are acts of kindness, and there is definitely no harm in doing them, but what about the personal/spiritual benefits you could be missing?
Giving from the heart comes with more of an award system. Our spirit grows strong when we exercise love and compassion for one another. Even putting forth a periodic helping hand allows the spirit to feel all warm and fuzzy; it indulges in delight!
Lucid’s Thoughts:
When you give from emptiness, that is what you will receive in return, and emptiness have no value. But, if you give from wholeness, what you will receive in return is priceless!
My family and I signed up to volunteer some time down at our local soup kitchen. They serve for the homeless and less fortunate. I have to admit, I was nervous at first. I was in an environment that was not only scary, but sad.
Instead of everyone standing on line to get their plate, we had everyone sit down, and we waited on them. My heart was filled with such compassion. I knew by the smiles on their faces, that they appreciated being served. And at that moment in time, they felt like human beings again!

It is very true, the intent with which we give changes the whole experience of giving. Great writing!
Working at a soup kitchen is a wonderful way to be kind and share your spirit!

When ever I get a chance I try and help out. My schedule doesn’t always allow this, but I do do it when I can.
I knew a young girl who had a baby and wasn’t in the best financial way. I told her I would watch her baby while she worked for what ever amount she could afford. I didn’t make much it was only $40 a week but in my heart I felt rich and the time with the little one filled my day with joy, so sometimes doing thisngs for others also helps you. I only ended up watching him for a few months. She ended up moving back in with her mom, but I would do it again.
Great post

PS Lucid,
I think that was good that you involved your family. The young adults in the world today just don’t get it. I hope they were able to receive the message as well.

There is a need to help and give to others. Maybe we are encoded in our DNA somewhere down deep inside. All I know is that just holding a door open at the store for someone feels good.

I help out with my church’s youth group. We have such a good time at summer camp every year. Roughing it up and leaving the material world behind is a nice change of events. I look forward to it every summer!

Hi Mark how are you?
Thank you for your compliment! We picked the soup kitchen because there is someone very special to me that survived off the grace of a soup kitchen. We almost lost this person and I am glad to have her back!!!!!
Your thoughts are always appreciated!

Hello Cheri…. It is not easy baby sitting. I also did it for a while when my kids were young. It was very nice of you to help out… I am sure she appreciated it, maybe even more than you know!
I did involve my kids, this way they would be exposed to the harsh reality of life. They are good kids and are grateful for the things they have! I appreciate them
Thanks for sharing!

Your right Kate! Putting the ways of the world to the side allows us to be aware of the meaningful things life has to offer. . . The basics!!! We tend to lose ourselves in such complexities… Glad you get the chance to reconnect
Have a great time at camp if you haven’t gone yet!!!
