Does One Have to go to Church to Worship God?

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think someone has to go to church to worship God?
Lucid’s Thoughts:
Everyone has an opinion, and most people have a belief. Our family members can be the hardest on us because they usually come from a long line of religious heritage, and they expect the up coming generations to do the same.
Parents tend to do this the most. They feel that if they are going to church and abiding God’s Law, then so should their children; they feel it is part of their parental duty. I definitely think we should be God fearing people, but…Just take a look around you, you will see God in everything.
My personal opinion is no, you do not need to be in a church to worship God/Your Higher Power. I believe God/Your Higher Power is all around us, in us, and above us. I do not believe God/Your Higher Power is restricted to only churches. Besides I feel he is too big to be housed in only a few select locations.
I do think churches are a holy place to worship, and a God/Higher Power like conscious is there. I also believe the Holy Spirit visits these establishments as long as they are worthy, but I do not believe it is the only way. Again, this is just my opinion.

I think you need to stick with what feels right for you. I know it is hard when your have someone telling you that it is BAD that you don’t go to church but I will tell you this, there are bad people that sit right in the front row and take the sacrament, so

Thank you for your opinion, I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I am, however, going to print out your reply and give it to my Mom next time she bugs me about church
Thanks!

This is something I’ve struggled with for a while. My parents – especially my father – would never understand that I have “branched off” from the Christian Church. They would see my alternative spiritual beliefs as “sinful”. So, I just can’t talk to my family about spiritual matters. I have my spiritual family online that I can talk to, which is just as nice.

Goodmorning Randy,
Your right, there are “real sinners” that go to church every day, so I do not feel that you should be shunned upon like your a “sinner” if you don’t go.
Really in reality we are all sinners, no one is perfect, God knows what is in your heart & soul.

Your funny Brooke!
When people think something is right, they want to share, and there is no problem with that. The problem is when they become pushy, opinionated, and over bearing. I am sure your mom means well! {oh, and be nice lol}
What it comes down to is, what is good for someone else may not be good for you.

Hi Sophia,
That is a good suggestion for people who are struggling with this. If the beliefs clash; don’t dicuss them.
Religion is like politics. It creates debate because the difference of opinion can be strong. Avoiding the topic at the dinner table on Thanksgiving, is probably the best way to go.
Just as they can not “make” you believe, you can not “make” them understand.
Have a nice day.
*I also like the spiritual community I have found online. It is great to know other people out there share your thoughts & feelings!

I was brought up in a strict Christian church. The bible was drilled into my head as a kid. I don’t remember most of it but I still go to church occassionally. I feel better when I do. I like to socialize and be with people who are there for the same reason I am. I don’t feel that you need to be in the building to talk with the boss.
