Can My Cat Detect Spirits?
Beth Asks:
My cat acts weird at times. Her head moves like she is watching something, but I never see anything. Do you think there is anything there?
Lucid’s Thoughts:
Let me start off by saying, I do believe animals have a “sixth sense” and recognize when an entity is near by. I believe they use all six of their senses to detect this. They can feel the shift in the energy fields. An example of this would be how they know when a thunder storm is coming.
First of all, it is a known fact that their five senses are more developed then ours. Their sight, sound, and smell are multiple times stronger. They are more sensitive to sound waves, the scents in the air, and the vibrational patterns of other animals and humans.
Lets not forget how they don’t have a veil, or a mind like ours that blocks everything out. They don’t live their life with skeptical logic; animals keep their life simply basic. They use all of their senses to survive, and therefore are on a heightened level of awareness all around.
My dog will occasionally look like he is watching something too. I get a kick out of it actually. Sometimes when he does this, I don’t get any feelings with it, and other times, I am feeling it and he could care less. I guess it all depends on the mood.

I have to agree Lucid!! I also think dogs (animals) could also be a great judge of character! If your pet doesn’t like someone, give some extra thought about that person. Many times they may sense something about them that you don’t!

Lucid,
Good morning, my name is Lisa and I found your website when I viewed the comments on “Let’s Change the World”.
I’m sorry if I’m long-winded with this comment (I tend to do that), but I had a strange experience with my dog when I took him in my car to the cemetary to visit my mom’s grave.
As soon as we entered the cemetary, he began to flip out, jumping all over the car and crying (and he’s BIG). He really freaked me out as well, and by the time I got to my mom’s grave, I was a little tense. As I kneeled to say a prayer in the peacefulness of the cemetary, all of a sudden a loud honk came from my car. I jumped up to see my dog sitting in the driver’s seat! I’m still not sure how he did that, but I’m pretty sure he was anxious to get out of there!

I thought maybe it was just me. Sometimes I see my cat starring at the corner of my kitchen. He kind of looks aimlessly. Now I am thinking….. Maybe I am not alone lol… Scary.

I agree Vicky, I too believe they can feel out a persons’ “agenda” and whether they are good natured or not. I think they are able to read body language because that is what they go by in the wild. They go by scent and action. (lol, I love to watch Discovery Channel)

Hi Lisa, thanks for writing in and Welcome!
That story was interesting, thanks for sharing. Even though I don’t think spirits hang over their graves, I do believe they are with us. If your dog was pickig up anything, it was probably the energy you attracted by going there.
What I mean by this is….. When we go to visit someone who has passed, we have them in our mind and hearts. This is like a magnet. It creates a pull to the spirit of the loved one who has passed. Your pup could have been sensing mom, or other peoples loved ones that they brought with them
Either way, I think it was funny how he ended up honking the horn

P.S. Lisa, I tried to comment your blog, but I was unable to because I am not a member, I just wanted to say I thought your post was nice!!!!
I just visited my girlfriend who I have known since I was 8yrs old. I have moved far away and came back and then moved again and we are still good friends, and I am thankful for that!!! It is a gift within itself!

Lucid,
No problem, I have to fix my settings so “anonymous” people can post comments!
As for the cemetery (I spelled it wrong before) where my mom is, I’ve had other weird experiences there before, as well. Like the time I went in at 5:15 one summer evening, not realizing they were closed. As I was saying a prayer by her grave, I heard a woman crying just around the bend. She sounded really sad, so I thought I’d go find her and make sure she was okay. I kept walking and looking, but never found her, even though I kept hearing her…but then her voice was coming from another direction. I started to get annoyed (still not thinking anything was weird), said forget it, and walked back to where I was. It was then that I noticed that mine was the only car in the whole entire cemetery! Not one other vehicle, or worse yet, person!! I panicked and got into my car to leave, and when I got to the exit, the gates were closed, and I almost started to hyperventilate. I turned around and finally found a maintenance man who told me that the south entrance had no gate and was always open if I ever got stuck again…so I flew “south” and got out of there as fast as I could! I did not make this up! I know it reads like a B-movie script, but it really happened, and I have no idea what it was.

I do believe this as well. I have seen my dog get freaked out and there is nothing there. Usually it happens when I have a weird feeling so it sort of validates it for me.

Wow Lisa, that does sounds a little un-nerving. I suppose my heart would be racing as well. There is nothing worse than feeling like you are trapped, and then to have a women crying out with no one else there…..
lol it doesn’t sound like a B-Script. You are funny. Are you Clairaudient by any chance? Maybe you heard a spirit that was close by. Clairaundience

Hi Damara,
That is when I go by my own feelings and ignore his actions lol.
My dog acts this way too. It is so funny. In the summer it is hard to tell sometimes whether he is sensing something, or if he is just looking in the air for the flying bugs like mosquitoes

I am glad you asked too

Okay, you’ve got me…what is clairaudient?? LOL
May 3rd, 2007 at 11:49 pm
Actually, now that I think about it…if that means hearing things, maybe I am! In my home, I used to hear tinny music, music that sounded like it was far away being played on an a.m. radio. I could never decipher the songs. In fact, I wouldn’t even realize that I was hearing it (I was so used to the sound) until I stopped what I was doing, and said, “Oh, there’s that music again.” I don’t hear it anymore, actually, once my stepkids moved in and my home became very active, I stopped hearing it (I didn’t miss it or think about it, just one day I realized that I hadn’t heard it in a while).
I’ve had some other strange experiences, but I’m too dang afraid to look into it further, LOL!!

Hi Lisa,
The dictionary definition of clairaudience is:
Clairaudience is defined by the Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary as the power or faculty of hearing something not present to the ear but regarded as having objective reality.
So yes, if one hears sounds, voices, music etc and there isn’t a person in sight or a radio in view, it could be clairaudience. Mediums/Channels usually fine tune this and use it to receive messages.
I know it can be scary sometimes, but the more knowledge you have the less afraid you most likely will become. It is not for everyone. Sometimes the distance like reading about it, or watching on TV is enough for one, where someone else may rather be hands on……
