Four Leaf Clover Not Just the Luck of the Irish
A few years ago my sister had some court issues. It was one of those situations where you were at the wrong place, at the right time. Her life was put on hold. It was a complex situation, and it took a long time for the courts to reach an official date. It was almost a year later before they would start the proceedings. We were all in a constant state of worry; it was absolutely terrible!
Though we were pretty confident in the lawyer’s ability to present the truth, it was the jury that would ultimately decide her fate.
I had an interesting experience a few weeks before she had to go to court. We were out shopping. The weather was crappy. It had been raining that misty kind of rain all morning; the kind that makes you feel like your a row of lettuce in a green house, with the misting system on.
Anyway, I pulled into the drive way, and my sister got out to go in the house. As I went to grab a few things from the back seat I heard a voice whisper, “Find the four leaf clover.” Yeah okay, what the hell was that ABOUT?! I knew it wasn’t my sister because she was already in the door.
Was it just my head chanting unnecessary silliness??? A four-leaf clover?! Where the hell was I going to get a four-leaf clover? The voice was persistent and repeated the same words several times, so I started to look at my surroundings. I had noticed a small clover patch amongst the grass. I did not recall ever seeing it before, but then again, I never looked for a clover either.
I bent down to fish through all the little petals. I could not find one that had four leaves. After a good ten minutes, I became frustrated because I was getting wet, so I finally gave up; I wanted to go in the house. As I wiped my wet, dirty hands on my pants, I said out loud, “This is crazy, there is no four-leaf clovers here!” With that, the voice whispered again. This time it said, “It is right in front of you.”
I turned just a little bit to my left and bent down again. I figured it would be a waste of time, however I did it anyways. With one brush of my hand, there it was. I could not believe my eyes! It stood out like a ray of light in the dark. A four-leaf clover wow! ( I swear if it could scream at me)
I was amazed. I plucked the little guy out of the ground and brought it in to my sister. I told her to hold on to it for good luck.
The trial was two weeks later. She was found “not guilty”. We were all so relieved. Our hearts filled with joy; we could finally breathe freely!
I believe the clover was a symbol of luck. If not for anything else, it definitely keep us optimistic.
Trust me, I know it is not always easy to put your faith before logic but……….You won’t know unless you try it! We are given signs of direction and encouragement all the time, it’s up to us whether we choose to recognize them or not.

By “we,” you don’t mean everyone, right? Children who end up dying caught up in civil wars, for example. Or quadraplegics neglected or abused in nursing homes staffed by the unskilled, low wage workers that do most of the hands on work in most such facilities…
Many people are given very discouraging signs, repeatedly, until they end up dead without every choosing it.
Personally, I think choice is a greatly overrated concept in spiritual contexts. It works well enough for some people in some circumstances - relatively fortunate ones - but if most of what goes on in human events were up to the people experiencing them, I think we’d see very little murder, rape, incurable disease, poverty, famine etc.

Well hello Paul!
I see you are a little bitter, and for that I am sorry! When I say “we” I mean the general public. It is my opinion that this statement of yours…
“By “we,” you don’t mean everyone, right? Children who end up dying caught up in civil wars, for example. Or quadraplegics neglected or abused in nursing homes staffed by the unskilled, low wage workers that do most of the hands on work in most such facilities…”
is a touch irrelevant to the type of signs I am referring to. To me it seems these are the misfortunes life unfortunately serves. (I have no control over that)
I am sorry for those who are afflicted with pain and sorrow of all kinds! Though not to pity, I do wish people would suffer less!!! I am not saying there is no cruelty in this world, as a matter of fact, there is more then most realize.
You angle here is from left field, and if I have offened you then sorry, but it is from my personal experiences that I can say, signs are shown and some of us do not acknowledege them; myself included. BUT, once I allowed myself to be open to them, and their possibilities, I then personally have benefited fromt them.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Have a good night!

Faith is a very fascinating subject. I beleive everything happens for good reason. Its up to each us to choose to find it, just like you chose to find the faith in the form of a 4-leaf clover. You may be interested in a recent post on my blog about faith:

Hi Liara! I will be sure to check it out
… I believe everything happens for a reason too….. I don’t think there are too many “mistakes” , especially because I strongly believe in cause and effect… most reasons are the result or go hand in hand with the cause.
Have a nice day
